It’s Been A Long While

I forgot that my domain renewal was coming up if not for the e-mail notification. I thought hard and long if it’s still worth it to pay $16/year and keep this blog if I won’t be posting as often as I used to, but I decided to keep it for the meantime.

I have not blogged in more than two months but I’m not sorry. I planned to during the election fever but everything about Philippine politics has gotten so toxic that I chose not to add my sentiments anymore. So many people have had enough of it. I know I did.

Hoping for a middle ground

It’s been two years since our last normal week in the office before it was initially declared that we’ll be having a 30-day community quarantine in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Since then, I have never set foot in the office except at times when I’d pass by and see the towering RCBC Plaza along Ayala and Gil Puyat Avenue from afar.

It was truly a blessing when I was one of the people from our team first selected to work from home—starting on March 27, 2020, which was a Friday. I never thought then it will last this long, so like everyone else, I took it as some sort of a “break” or a “vacation”. I may have bought a new laptop for me to use but I never bothered about getting myself settled in the hopes that all will be temporary.

All That “Sugar Daddy”-talk

Photo by Melanie Kreutz on Unsplash

The beginning of the year overwhelmed me with bills and other money worries and it got too much that I was already having anxiety attacks because of it.

Before y’all get judgy on me, I’m not really bad in my finances. I usually spend within my means, not into buying things that are branded or expensive and I don’t borrow money from other people (see, when I was younger, I borrowed money from a relative and when I wasn’t able to pay on time she went and told our other relatives about it so that became a lesson to me not to do it again).

But, yeah, I guess no matter how good you are in handling money matters, there will always be a time that bills would come one after the other and then another and another. Things like this can stress just about anyone and I know I’m not alone in this.
